In the Burn Series, I explore geometries, languages, architecture, organics and the randomness of nature through a simple process of burning the images onto paper.

The original concept of the Burn Series was to configure as many images as possible; typically groups of 3, 5, 10 or 20 are popular with viewers.  When viewers look at 3 or 5 pieces together, it seems important to have a cohesive theme or, at least, a connectedness among the art.  When the grouping grows to 10 or 20+, it really does not seem to matter which images are put together.  I am fascinated by the complexities of the dizzying array of patterns and designs that are found in nature (leaves, rocks, clouds, etc) as well as the interconnectedness – each and every one is unique and yet the commonalities are obvious. As I burn through hundreds of patterns, I explore the relationships and apparent symbiosis of everything the mind can witness or imagine.
